Ohio Capital Impact Corporation's Summer Camp Grant Award

Frontier is pleased to report on a successful grant application and funding process that allowed us to send four resident-children of Wells Manor in Wellston, Ohio, to the Ohio State University Extension’s summer camp. Because of OCIC's generous support, four children were able to attend the camp during June, 2016, at Canter's Cave near Jackson. After the camp ended, Frontier's supportive services' staff and the community management team hosted a cookout where the children came together, created a posterboard, hung pictures from the camp in the community building, and shared stories from their experiences. Because some children were not able to attend camp who had initially said they would be able to go, we had extra funds and received permission from OCIC to purchase school supplies for the children who attended.

Thank you for your continued support, OCIC!

The children described it as life-changing. They got to experience something they would not have gotten to without being awarded the grant funding. The children said they enjoyed the experiences and meeting new friends was one of the best parts. The children also appreciated their school supplies and so did their parents. The camp helped the children stay academically and socially engaged during the summer. We believe the summer camp program made a positive, meaningful impact on the lives of our residents.
